Amjad Mahmoud Issa Al-Darwish achieved the highest combined score in the competition's theoretical and practical examinations, earning the overall first-place position.

He also received the title of Nuclear Science Ambassador, recognising his performance in the Olympiad.

The competition assessed students through demanding scientific examinations designed to evaluate their understanding of nuclear science, analytical abilities, experimental knowledge and problem-solving skills.

Jana Al-Sabil Wins Gold and Special Recognition

Jana Saleh Abdullah Al-Sabil also secured a gold medal and received the Best Female Student award, presented by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Her achievement highlighted the participation and performance of young women in advanced scientific disciplines.

The award was approved by the Olympiad's International Council and recognised her outstanding performance in the competition.

Promoting the Peaceful Applications of Nuclear Science

Nuclear science has important peaceful applications in fields such as healthcare, electricity generation, agriculture, industry and scientific research.

International competitions such as INSO aim to introduce young students to these scientific disciplines and encourage them to pursue research and innovation.

Saudi Arabia's performance in the 2026 Olympiad highlights the achievements of its young researchers and the role of education and specialised training in preparing students for international scientific competitions.

The two gold medals won by Al-Darwish and Al-Sabil, alongside the silver and bronze medals, mark a significant achievement for the Saudi delegation.
