Indian Cabinet News  Major Decisions and Policy Moves Draw Attention

The Indian Cabinet and state cabinets continue to remain at the centre of major policy discussions, with several important decisions affecting infrastructure, energy, education and public welfare. Recent Union Cabinet decisions have included major investments in railway and highway connectivity, while the government is also focusing on long-term energy security.

The Union Cabinet recently approved four railway multitracking projects covering eight districts across West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The projects are expected to add around 410 kilometres to the Indian Railways network and improve transportation capacity.

Another major decision concerns the highway network. The Cabinet approved an upgrade of the Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi-Sonbarsa section of NH-22 in Bihar to four lanes at a capital cost of about ₹3,590.73 crore. The project is expected to strengthen connectivity, including links toward the India-Nepal border.

Energy security is also a major Cabinet priority. The government has approved the ₹84,084-crore Samudra Manthan programme for offshore oil and gas exploration, aimed at increasing domestic exploration and reducing dependence on imports.

With infrastructure, energy and development remaining key priorities, Cabinet decisions are expected to continue influencing India's economic and social policy landscape.
