    'Historic shift': Dalit leader Thippiri Tirupathi tipped to head CPI (Maoist) after Keshav Rao’s death

    Thippiri Tirupathi, also known as Devji, is likely to succeed Nambala Keshav Rao as chief of the banned CPI (Maoist), following Rao's death in Chhattisgarh. If appointed, Tirupathi would be the first Dalit leader to head the revolutionary group. The Maoist party is expected to release an official statement confirming the leadership change soon.
