NEW DELHI, October 15, 2026: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a fresh demonstration in New Delhi for Friday, October 16, following the detention of senior party leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das. Party founder Abhijeet Dipke has called on supporters to gather at Central Park in Connaught Place at 5 p.m. with the Indian national flag for a march titled “Lehra Do Tiranga.”

The announcement, reported by India Today, The Economic Times and Hindustan Times, comes amid continuing tensions over demonstrations in the national capital and demands concerning revisions to electoral rolls.

Why has CJP called another protest?

The latest announcement followed a court order sending Ranka and Das to five days of judicial custody after their detention over an incident at Jantar Mantar.

Police alleged that the two leaders had entered the area without permission and violated undertakings to maintain peace. The site had recently been removed from its status as an officially designated protest location.

CJP has challenged the action against its members. Dipke said the new gathering would demonstrate that displaying the national flag is not a crime and urged supporters to participate in the march. These statements reflect the party's position; the legal issues surrounding the earlier incident remain subject to the relevant authorities' proceedings.

Electoral-roll revisions remain at the centre of the dispute

The wider protests have included demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over revisions to voter lists.

Opposition parties and activists have raised concerns about whether eligible voters could be wrongly removed from electoral rolls. The Election Commission has denied political bias and said voters whose names were incorrectly deleted can re-enrol. The BJP has also rejected allegations that the process is intended to benefit the ruling party.

The dispute has become a broader point of contention involving electoral administration, political accountability and the right to demonstrate peacefully.

What is planned for October 16?

According to reports published on October 14, CJP has asked supporters to assemble at Central Park, Connaught Place, at 5 p.m. on Friday, October 16, carrying the national flag. Dipke has also appealed to supporters who cannot travel to Delhi to organise tricolour marches in their own cities.

The announcement does not, by itself, confirm that the gathering has received police permission. The location, timing and any applicable restrictions should be checked with Delhi Police before people travel to the site.

What happens next?

The proposed march could bring renewed attention to the dispute over protest permissions and the detention of CJP leaders. Its progress will depend on the organisers' plans, any directions from authorities and the situation on the ground.

News National will monitor official statements and reliable reporting for updates on permissions, traffic arrangements, participation and any further legal developments.
