NEW DELHI: Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will visit India from October 21 to 23, 2026, for discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi aimed at strengthening political, economic and strategic cooperation between the two countries.

India's Ministry of External Affairs announced the visit on October 19, saying it was taking place at Modi's invitation. The two leaders are scheduled to hold bilateral talks in New Delhi on October 22, reviewing the full range of India–Poland relations and exchanging views on regional and international developments.

Strategic Partnership at the Centre of Talks

India and Poland elevated their bilateral relationship to a Strategic Partnership during Modi's visit to Poland in August 2024.

The upcoming meeting provides an opportunity to review progress since that decision and explore further cooperation in trade, investment, defence, emerging technologies, renewable energy, education and cultural exchanges.

Both governments have expressed interest in strengthening economic ties and expanding collaboration in sectors that can create opportunities for businesses and institutions in the two countries.

Business Delegation to Accompany Tusk

Tusk will be accompanied by Poland's Minister of Finance and Economy, Andrzej Domański, along with a business delegation.

An India–Poland Business Forum is scheduled to take place in New Delhi on October 22 and in Bengaluru on October 23. The meetings are intended to encourage commercial engagement and identify opportunities for companies from both countries.

Bengaluru's technology and innovation ecosystem is expected to provide a setting for discussions involving business stakeholders, including representatives from the information technology and space sectors.

Trade, Defence and Technology in Focus

The visit is expected to cover several areas of mutual interest.

Trade and investment discussions could explore opportunities for companies seeking partnerships and access to new markets. Defence and industrial cooperation are also expected to feature in the broader agenda, alongside emerging technologies and renewable energy.

Education, culture and people-to-people exchanges remain important components of the bilateral relationship. Greater cooperation in these areas could support academic links, research partnerships and business connections.

The final outcomes will depend on the discussions and any agreements formally announced during the visit. Proposed areas of cooperation should not be treated as signed agreements unless confirmed by the two governments.

Strengthening India–Europe Engagement

Poland is an important partner for India in Central Europe. The visit comes as New Delhi seeks to deepen economic and diplomatic engagement with European countries.

For Poland, closer cooperation with India offers opportunities in trade, industrial development, technology and investment. For India, stronger ties could help expand commercial links with Central and Eastern European markets.

The meetings scheduled for October 22 and 23 will provide an opportunity for both governments and business representatives to identify practical steps towards expanding the partnership.
