Nepal Floods: Death Toll Rises as Hundreds Remain Missing....

A devastating flash flood has struck northern Nepal near the Tibet border, causing widespread destruction and triggering a major rescue operation. The disaster has killed at least 165 people, while hundreds of others remain missing as authorities continue searching through areas covered by mud, rocks and flood debris.

The flooding severely affected Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and surrounding districts. Roads, bridges, homes and power infrastructure were swept away by the sudden surge. Rescue teams have been using helicopters to reach communities cut off by damaged roads and destroyed bridges.

The disaster is also attracting strong attention in India because many Indian nationals are among those reported missing. Nepalese authorities said 177 Indians were missing, including people travelling toward the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage route.

The flood appears to have been triggered by a massive collapse of ice and rock in the Himalayan region, sending a powerful surge of water and debris downstream. The Trishuli River and other waterways were heavily affected.

Indian authorities are also monitoring the situation closely. Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have been placed on high alert because rivers flowing from Nepal can affect downstream areas in India. India has also sent humanitarian assistance to flood-hit Nepal.

Rescue workers remain focused on finding survivors and assisting families searching for missing relatives.
