iPhone Handoff One Number Across Two iPhones in iOS 27

Apple's iOS 27 adds iPhone Handoff, letting you share one phone number between two iPhones. A demo clip reveals setup via Xcode 27's Device Hub.

Apple is quietly building a way to run one phone number on two iPhones at once. Here's what the iOS 27 feature called iPhone Handoff actually does.

One Number, Two iPhones

iPhone Handoff arrives with iOS 27 later this month, letting you switch between two iPhones that share the same number. Apple named it briefly at June's WWDC keynote but revealed no details until now.

Setup Leaks Through Xcode 27

A newly surfaced demo clip shows the feature running inside Xcode 27's Device Hub. It pairs two iPhones, designating one as your main device and the second as its "companion."

Built For The Foldable Ultra

Apple's timing lines up with the expected foldable iPhone Ultra. Rather than always carrying a chunky, expensive handset, users could temporarily switch to a cheaper, smaller iPhone - even an old cracked iPhone 13.

Carrier Support Is Required

The feature won't work without carrier backing. References to T-Mobile US and Telekom.de were spotted in the code, but whether any other carriers will support iPhone Handoff remains unknown.
